Zoolander Skytower @ The Woolshed 06/10/22
Tonight was the night that I had long been waiting for and nothing was going to stop me from finally being there. You see, as he is a fellow Aussie, I had been wanting to catch a Zoolander set for so long but the times just haven't gelled and I have always ended up catching the last few songs which left me wanting to hear more. So when I heard that he was playing at my fave Aussie venue The Woolshed tonight I decided, ehhh who needs food, its time I caught a whole set. Boy am I glad that I did!!!!!
Landing to Elton John's "Your Song", which turned into Harlow's song as I had finally made it to a show, Zoo soon had my heart going pitter patter and my legs weak at the knees for ladies (and gents) Zoolander may look like a bad boy, the ripped jeans, the fingerless gloves, the black tshirt, the leather vest , the stubble and the low slung guitar but this man has a voice that is so sweet and sexy that I was instantly captivated and melting like a marshmallow dunked in hot chocolate.
Dancing barefoot in the red dirt of The Woolshed, I soon had pencil and notepad in hand and was busy taking notes, blocking out local chat so that I could concentrate on the man on stage. Zoo continued on with Paul Simons "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover and Ed Sheeran's "Shape Of You" but it was Prince's "Red Beret" and Pink Floyds "Wish You Were Here" done in such a way the hairs on the back of my neck were standing on end that had me pausing from note taking and looking up. I quickly reached for a songlist, which I found to be extensive and covering many genres and as I looked through I knew what I wanted in an instant. As a huge Clapton fan I wanted to hear Zoo's take on his songs, so messaging him I requested that he sing one for me..........the choice I left to him.
I wasn't disappointed when my request came up, for the song that Zoo had chosen was the beautiful "You Look Wonderful Tonight" and let me tell you it was a stunning rendition. Thank you Zoolander I was a happy little vegemite indeed.
From Crash Test Dummies "Afternoons and Coffeespoons", John Cougar's "Cherry Bomb", Matchbox 20 "If You're Gone", Guns N Roses "Patience and an original "Goodnight Sweetheart, Zoolander kept the audience on their feet, kicking up the red dirt and singing along for what was a truly great performance. The hour was over way too soon for my liking as I could have continued listening for hours, and to be honest as I am writing this I am listening to his Soundcloud.
Zoolander Skytower, you have a new fan, and a new friend in me and I look forward to catching you play around the grid time and time again.
