Senjata Witt @ Surfside Hideaway 11/06/21
Idly flicking through events on an Aussie Saturday morning, after a big Friday night, I wasn't sure if my head was really up to hearing much but then I saw a listing for Senjata Witt at Surfside Hideway and my curiosity was piqued..
The listing read:
Acoustic blues marinated in sweaty, earthy roots, with a voice like molasses and mesquite smoke, Senjata's sound is raw, ripe, and rich, sweltering like the shimmer that rises through the air on a sultry summer day... when Senjata sings, you'll taste it on your tongue.
How could I not go along and find out more!!!!!!!!.
Swallowing down some paracetamol I headed on over to Surfside Hideaway. Surfside is a cool outdoor venue where you dance over the water, while sharks swim underneath and a bear dances in the corner....only in SL, right.
When Senjata started the set off with Fever, her voice throaty and sexy I instantly knew that I was in for a good time and when she then followed up with Piano Man, done acoustically I was so impressed I found myself thinking that I preferred it to the original Billy Joel version...........I know right, its an iconic song but that's how good Senjata's version was.
Leonard Cohen's Suzanne, a song that I haven't heard in way too long had me closing my eyes, shutting out the world and immersing myself in the beauty of Senjata's voice. Throwing in some originals to mix it up she played an eclectic set often laughing as she played, clearly having a great time herself and just listening to her tuning her guitar half way through was delightful.
I am constantly impressed with the amazing artists that share their gift with all of us in SL and ladies and gentleman Senjata Witt certainly has a gift so keep an eye out on events and check her out as she plays around the gird. You will be glad that you did.
