Paul Kindhartdman @ Cafe Musique (Alternate Location) on 07/02/2023

What's a blogger to do when his home restarts? If its Tuesday, which it often is for me, I head to the Café Musique alternate location. Built specifically to combat sim restarts, for the planned ones, Laya Sugarplum opens up the Gariepy location. This facsimile of the Café Musique indoor location in Sandness hosts scheduled shows on Tuesdays and ad hoc shows with other outages effect Sandness. This is a great way for those of us bouncing around avoiding restarts on Tuesdays.

The Tuesday shows typically great, and today was no exception. I was able to catch all of the Paul Kindhartdman show today (a rarity for me) and wanted to seize this opportunity to share Paul with my reader (wait, there's more than one of you???). I've been bits and pieces of Paul's shows for some time now. I've noticed a trend of waves of songs in SL. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 songs that are popular at given moment, and you can hear them by various performers, sometimes 5 or 6 times a day. That's all good, and it's refreshing to go to a show and know you're going to hear things that aren't everywhere else.

Paul started today's journey on the back roads of my mind with "Ramblin' Man", the Allman Brothers song that is somewhat of a theme of mine in SL. Picking up on the vibe of the audience (a particular talent of Paul's) our next auditory treat was Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Pride And Joy" followed by the novelty song from the 70s, "Disco Duck", the spoof of disco Rick Dees and his Idiots made famous.

Fortunately, the next song wasn't a novelty, song, but rather a thoughtful, genuine, request originally recorded by Rodney Carrington. I was in fact, gravely disappointed the audience chose to use the readily available comical attachments to "Show Them To Me". I don't know if it was accidental, or a nod to the BDSM crowd, but his next song was "Let's Twist Again" by Chubby Checker, followed by a rockin' version of the Chuck Berry classic, "Johnny B Good" (providing many flashbacks to Back To The Future, no doubt).

Speaking of rockin' Paul nailed the bearded wonders from Texas hit "Sharp Dressed Man" (maybe I DO need a stylist), followed up with Eric Church's "Jack Daniels". Not to exclude thoughtful song (trust me I think about "Show Them To Me" all the time) Paul shared a soulful rendition of Vince Gill's "If You Have Forever In Mind" and a song that I've always felt is important to share in the right moments, "In Case You Didn't Know" by Brett Young.

Leaving Nashville for a bit Paul took us down "Highway To Hell" (wait, Australians can rock?? What?) from AC/DC, then a staple from the Detroit great Bob Seeger, "Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight", and another Stevie Ray Vaughn party song "The House Is Rockin'". Slowing things down Paul treated to growly "Do Bad Things With You" from Jace Everett. With a light touch on the controls, Paul brought our party plane in the sky in for a smooth landing with Alan Jackson's "Remember When".

So, the next time you're sim hopping on Restart Tuesday, stop by the Café Musique Alternate location and maybe you'll be lucky enough to catch Paul Kindhartdman on his "Songs You Don't Hear Often In SL, But Should" tour like I did.

Paul's mom bought him his first guitar when he was 12. She passed away shortly after and his guitar and music got him through many dark times. Now he is excited to share the joy music has brought him with his fans across The Grid.

Editors Note: Look, we sat this incorrigible blogger down and had a stern talk with him about desexualizing his venue pictures after the last problem. We tried, we really did. You didn't help with your song selection Paul!
