Gabriella @ The Night Owl 23/04/21
I dropped on over to the The Night Owl to see what was shakin this afternoon. This club seems to be the "growing place" for some fine SL artists and Sweetpea (Shilova), the owner has done a great job with it as well as bringing in some pure talent.
Gabriella (Gabriellarothschild) - is a young SL pianist/singer who brings a sweet and refreshing style to her craft. She has a way of taking you on a journey with many of her music choices. She began her set, with a vintage style rendition of "You don't love me" by Caro Emerald that brought up visions of a shady speakeasy, peep hole in the door and big hulk waiting for the password.
From there, we moved on down to "Africa by Toto and I could almost feel the heat of a humid rain forest. Gabriella's ability to make a song hers was so evident with "Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by The Police which had me cuddling a little closer to my lady.
The song "It is Well" by Bethel Music gave me pause to think of so many things in terms of this past year and a half and was a sweet reminder to be thankful.
Back to our journey, we meandered on down south with "Walking in Memphis originally done by Marc Cohn and also covered by Cher. Gabriella then showed her amazing versatility with the blues as she played the great Nora Jones song, "Don't Know Why" and sang it in that bluesy way that would have made Nora proud!
Now, I have been to Hawaii and love their music so one of my favorites was "Somewhere Over The Rainbow, done in the style of the one and only Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole. As she tickled the ivories I could almost hear IZ accompanying her with his Ukulele.
Gabriella wrapped up her set with "Everlong" by Foo Fighters, "Fade Into You" by the young Mazzy Star and "Under The Milky Way written by Karin Jansson and Steve Kilbey and sung by the group, The Church. This was an hour well spent and I have an idea this young lady is going to do well in her SL career.
Bio
Gabriella is currently working toward a masters degree in psychology and has a real desire to incorporate music therapy into that profession as she states in the following:
"I have a therapist; her name is music! Music was always part of my family, parents were dancers, grandmother played multiple instruments by ear, famous actors as ancestors and my most life-changing experiences all happened through music!"
