Cranston Yordstorm @ Snowy River Saloon 20/4/21
Looking at Cranston’s song list, I saw many easy listening songs by Frank Sinatra. I immediately got this vision of old blue eyes singing with that classic voice in a smoke filled club with men in black suits, cigarettes, cigars, and ladies with pencil styled, but pretty dresses. Well, keep the amazing voice in your head but erase that black suit, smoke filled venue image. Cranston Yordstorm was entertaining this evening at one of my favorite venues, Snowy River Saloon owned by DJ Morph (morpheus469). First, let me say the Snowy River Saloon is a “SMOKIN” venue. It sports a western, country style and has the most pleasant employees and customers.
Cranston Yordstorm is a singer with an easy listening style combined with some jazz and blues thrown in the mixture. His voice is crisp and clear, and I can understand each and every word he sings. “Let the Good Times Roll” by Ray Charles was his opening song; and yes, from there, the good times DID roll. Cranston had many Frank Sinatra songs on his list (and I love Frank Sinatra). The one he sang, “Embraceable You” had me swooning. “Come to Papa” was one of the phrases in the song, and I was ready to come to papa! 😊 Also sung from his song list was: With a Wink and a Smile by Harry Connick Jr., Steamroller Blues by James Taylor, Tears from Heaven by Eric Clapton, Pancho and Lefty by Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, Stray Cat Strut by the Stray Cats and more. When he sang “Cheeseburger in Paradise and Come Monday” by Jimmy Buffett, I was then ready for a flowered shirt, flip flops, and sand. Cranston also adds flavor to his act with a six-piece band – piano, drums, sax, bass, guitar, trumpet. It was so enjoyable to see all the musicians playing and having such fun together.
Cranston is an actor in real life and has been a musical performer in many plays throughout the USA. I could easily recognize the theatrical sound in his voice. His final tune was, “The Curtain Falls” by Bobby Darin, and gently did the curtain fall. Leaving the venue, I was happy, satisfied and so very energized yet peaceful. Look for Cranston Yordstorm for a splendid evening of entertainment!!!
