Bubbles @ Blue Cove 11/10/21
Pavlov's dogs had their bell. I have my "Tiny Bubbles" song. Same effect. And my "bell" rang this afternoon at Blues Cove, an outstanding venue with a Tuesday filled with great acts. The lead off was Bubbles "BuBu Quinn" Song, another of the great acts of SecondLife. I'll confess here, I've known Bubbles for quite a while now, but I hadn't heard in a while. Then earlier this year, after a hiatus, I made an effort to get back to one her shows. Waaaay worth effort. Waaaaay. If you haven't been to a Bubbles show, you're in for a treat. She sings a variety styles and genres. Her forte, is clearly love songs and musical numbers. Today's show was the kind of top quality I've come to enjoy at a Bubbles show, her gorgeous, wine colored :PULSE:. Alvira dress, was just an extra.
She opened with the Limp Bizkit version of "Behind Blue Eyes". Before all you old people (you know, like my age) get excited, there IS a Limp Bizkit version of "Behind Blue Eyes" and Bubbles made me forget that other band.. Who were they anyway? Then came the Disney hit "Colors Of The Wind". This one almost made me run off to live in a forest, until I realized I'd probably die within a day. Not to worry about my fear of death, her next song was from Annie, "The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow", but I can't imagine it being any brighter than her smile. Rounding out her musical numbers for the day was a brilliant, powerful, moving rendition of Les Miz' "I Dreamed A Dream". This is the kind of emotional song that will stir humans to action. Just stunning to hear delivered with this amount of passion and technical ability.
Not content to wow her growing audience with musical hits, Bubble's launched into a hit parade of pop songs, many requested from her vast song list. First up was The Eagles "Hotel California". As a native Californian, now living in Heterocera, I was instantly transported to the summer of my youth and dark desert highways. Her evocative rendition of R.E.M's "The One I Love" flowed into the country classic "When You Say Nothing At All". Continuing to demonstrate mastery across the panoply of musical stars she covered Jason Mraz's "Lucky" giving up nothing to Colbie Caillat. And the back to the "oughts" for Cold Play's "Fix You", then her time machine went back further to an impeccably delivered "Purple Rain from the one and only Prince. I was really thinking how lucky I was to hear "old people's music" (from the 80s) when Bubbles stunned me with Don McClean's ode to tortured souls, "Vincent". She closed up the fastest hour in SL today with Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". After such a beautiful performance, I'm ready to go to her next show, and I hope you'll join me!
Bubbles is a singer born 1984, and bred on a farm on a small island off the South Coast of England, The Isle of Wight. She has been singing ever since she can remember, and is the only musical member of her family! Always harboring a passionate love for music from birth, Bubbles has listened to almost all genres of music since she was a child, including, blues, rock, jazz, soul, funk, dance, country, classical, opera and has a massively eclectic taste in music ranging to everything from Pavarotti to Dolly Parton, Journey and Whitesnake to Johnny Cash and Alan Jackson, New Kids on the Block to Adele and literally EVERYTHING in between, with a very strong love of Rock music and ballads/Rock ballads.
Bubbles travelled a lot in younger years but never once left the music behind. from her very first talent show win when she was 9 right up to present day, singing has been her passion, hobby, job, love and life. Having been in many bands, sung as a solo artist, been to music college and also being a Real Life DJ and karaoke host since 2005 as well as an SL DJ since joining SL in 2009. She has an extensive knowledge of almost all music and her love of it shows through in her DJing and singing.
Bubbles has always used music to express herself and her inner thoughts and emotions, which shows through in her singing, and also why she leans more toward singing slower, stronger songs such as ballads etc. But she is also capable of singing a wide range of genres including country, blues, jazz, pop, modern, rock and many more.
She records at home and uploads songs to the Internet, one of which turned into a viral sensation, gaining over 2 million views in just 5 days, and earning Bubbles a phone call from The Ellen Show, and multiple media/radio/newspaper articles and interviews. Bubbles also likes taking special requests from people to record songs for them as gifts for Birthdays, weddings, other occasions or just for personal listening pleasure. Bubbles is willing to try any song and is always determined to succeed in learning and performing it to perfection.
