.BOLD @ The Lakeside Pavillion 25/04/2023

There a number of great venue experiences to be had in SecondLife. And they run the spectrum from a simple platform to reasonable facsimiles of opera houses. Every Tuesday, from 11 - 1 SLT you can find great music as a venue where the owner takes pride in recreating the concert experience (without the outrageous ticket prices) at The Lakeside Pavillion. Sarrah Nitely and her crew have built, and operate, a venue that includes shops, stores, and even tables, as well as a stage where Sarrah ensures performers have a "show" experience and the audience feels like they are at a concert. From customized stage setups, to "union" musicians who support a variety of acts, visitors to Lakeside are included in the festivities from start to finish.

Filling the third spot in Lakeside's outstanding Tuesday lineup today, in his debut experience was .BOLD. This was my second time hearing bold and the show started off not at all what I was expecting. .BOLD's elaborate stage and costume, coupled with the kind of soulful "White Rabbit" from Jefferson Airplane I'd expect from one of the better West Coast clubs alerted me this was no ordinary singer. He followed this pitch perfect opener with The Rolling Stones "Sympathy For The Devil" as his stage evolved and his costume became, ahem, less. Thinking he would take a break and sing something slow, I was pleased when he began to belt out "Rebel Yell" from Billy Idol.

Continuing on with his parade of prime performances of "old people" songs .BOLD delivered a memorable cover of The Kinks "Should I Stay Or Should I Go". I assure you the answer for everyone hearing this voice was Stay!. Ensuring got a chance to hear his impressive range, he next sang Fleetwood Mac's "Lies", then delivered an amazing, gravel voiced "Unchain My Heart" from Joe Cocker and a hammering "Love is A Battlefield" from Pat Benatar. Ok.. So now stick with me here dear reader(s). This is singer who had nailed, Grace Slick, Mick Jagger, and Joe Cocker, among others. What do you suppose would come next? ABBA of course! And beautiful rendition of "The Winner Takes It All" washed over our amazed ears.

Next up was a song from Dutch singer Anouk called "Modern World", then "The Ketchup Song", with fortunately with the English lyrics. Ok, so we hear Grace Slick, Joe Cocker, Pat Benatar, Mick Jagger, ABBA and now, of course, we were treated to an amazing rendition of "Me And Bobby McGee" from the legendary Janis Joplin, and then finally, at the end of this blazing hour of eargasms, "Toxicity" from the System Of Down.

As one new fan of .BOLD put it, "Thunderous Applause" rolled across Lakeside. I'm sure after reading this, you're bummed you didn't catch this show. Not to worry, DTS has is on good authority that .BOLD will become part of the regular Tuesday lineup at Lakeside. And this blogger is looking forward to being amazed by more audio gems and what I fully expect to be a robust stage show to evolve from this amazing performer.
