AustinMoores @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Scarlett's Hideaway 03/11/21
You know when you are just in a funk, you don't really know why but you just aren't you and the feeling just drags on no matter what you do? I had been feeling like that for the last week or so and I knew that I needed to get me back. The best way for me to be me is through doing what I love, bogging live music so I jumped around to a lot of great performers, took notes but the words just wouldn't come, that was until I landed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre at Scarlets Hideaway just as AustinMoores was taking to the stage.
I love the amphitheatre at Scarlett's as there's plenty of room to dance whether it be single, couple or on the dance pads at the front of the stage. Owner, Scarlett and host Coffee always make you feel welcome and its one place that I never lag at...that's got to be a bonus....right?
Austin was joined on stage by his "Angels" Talia Sunsong and Sandy Hauster, who I must say looked absolutely gorgeous. dancing behind him. Perving his profile I found that Austin does Neil Diamond tribute shows so when he started out with Kentucky Woman I was wondering if I had stumbled into one of his tribute sets, but no I hadn't for his next song was The Shallow from A Star Is Born. Singing to a recording with a lady by the name of ZDiva Sorbet, I was stunned at not only the beauty of her voice , but how well the two of them blended together. It was simply divine.
Austin, as I quickly found is a little bit country, a little bit rock, a little bit jazz and a whole lot of entertainer so grabbing a songlist I was curious to see what I may like to request. His song list is extensive, covering several genres but my scrolling stopped at a song that I adore by Chris Stapleton Broken Halos. Austin was happy to oblige and informed the audience that as a veteran this song holds a special meaning to him, so for me requesting that made the song even more special to me. The lyrics to this song are beautiful
Angels come down from the heavens
Just to help us on our way
Come to teach us, then they leave us
And they find some other soul to save
and as I have my own special angel that hasn't made an appearance for a while, I often wonder if he is up there finding other souls to save. Thank you Austin.
Austin switched it up throughout the set with Joe Cockers "Unchain My Heart", Jimmy Buffets "Margaritaville" Cody Links "It Must Be The Whiskey" Tim McGraw and Faith Hills "I Need You" ,Neil Diamonds "Crunchy Granola Suite" and "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" which was once again sung with ZDiva and was breath taking. As I was dancing and taking notes I couldn't help but wish that my fellow blogger Trish was dancing along side of me as she would have been having the time of her life seeing that she is a country music gal, but it was a song about a guy being his own grandpa (yes weird I know) that was the highlight for me. Austin performed it hilariously well, even though most of us were going WTF I cant keep up with all this.
The hour seemed to disappear in an instant and I found that my spirits had been lifted and my funk had gone. I will forever say that I have the best gig of all in SL and finding AustinMoores is a definite highight.
