Neomaximus @ Kat Vargas Memorial -MS Benefit 07/11/21

I believe our creator placed within every person a desire to leave some kind of legacy once we are gone. A hope that when the bartender has announced "last call" that there will be a "knowing" that we were loved, appreciated and remembered. I don't know if Kat Vargas took time to really stop and think about that (it seems she was a very busy lady), but what I do know is the memorial that was put on in her memory showed me that she did indeed leave that legacy. Kat suffered from MS but from what I gather she didn't let it keep her from doing what she loved, and that was promoting the talents of some great and gifted artists.

Though I didn't personally know Kat, I had the privilege of listening to several artists eulogize her. The event was held at Love Kats ll, Kat Chauveau's club, and organized by Rusty Seisenbacher.

As time would have it, the first artist I had opportunity to hear was Neomaximus. He began his set with "Foxy Lady" by the late, great Jimi Hendrix and gave some great licks on the guitar in the process, as he then moved effortlessly into "Wish You Were Here by Incubus. Between songs Neo strummed soulfully and recounted some sweet memories of Kat and his pursuit of her as a manager. He did a bit of a change up with his version of "I'm Not The Only One" by Sam Smith and "How Deep Is Your Love", a Bee Gee's favorite.

His renditions of "Alive" by Pearl Jam, "Speed of Sound" by Coldplay and "Sunflower" by Post Malone kept the crowd calling for more and Neo was happy to comply. His next song was "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd and I couldn't help but wonder if it was giving him memories of times past and his relationship with Kat. Neo ended the set with a Beatles tune, "Why Don't We Do It In The Room" and I'm sure Kat might have had an appropriate comment to that! LOL

Thanks for sharing yourself and your memories with us Neo!
